Felicity Homsted to Present at HH340B September Webinar on Addressing Opioid-Related Healthcare Dilemmas

The Hudson Headwaters 340B team is excited to continue our monthly webinar series with a September Session to be hosted on Wednesday, September 15th at 3pm. The one hour session is free to attendees. Below is a full outline of the webinar topic, full presenter bio, and information about the remaining sessions in our series.

The September presentation is titled, “Modern Day Problems Require Modern Day Solutions: How Primary Care Pharmacist Can Help Address Opioid-Related Healthcare Dilemmas.” While prescription opioids meet an important patient need in the management of acute pain, their prescribing is not without risks. Decades of ubiquitous use of opioids prescribe, as well as illicit use has created significant challenges for patients, families, communities, and healthcare professionals. The primary care pharmacist and community pharmacists are two members of the care team ready to support the complex care delivery models needed. This session will describe models of care where pharmacist integration supported the safe prescribing of opioids in the areas of pain management, neonatal abstinence syndrome treatment and medication assisted treatment of opioid use disorder within primary care. It will also highlight ways in which the 340B program was leveraged to support the integration work.
