HH340B June Webinar to Feature Sue Veer from Carolina Health Centers, Inc.

Hudson Headwaters 340B is excited to share the second installment of our  Webinar Series to be hosted on Wednesday, June 16th at 3pm. The one hour session is free to attendees. Below is a full outline of the webinar topic, full presenter bio, and the remaining sessions in our series:

COVID and Beyond: What a Year it has been!

As if adapting to a pandemic and ensuring the continued viability of our health centers while maintaining access for our patients was not enough, in July the 340B Drug pricing program came under a four-pronged assault by drug manufacturers and others.  Though we may be seeing some light at the end of the tunnel in terms of both the pandemic and the manufacturer assault, the spotlight turned on the program continues to bring with it challenges.  In this session, we will journey back through the last year and look at how health centers adapted to a public health emergency, as well as the dual threats of the potential loss of contract pharmacy and increased discriminatory reimbursement.  More importantly, this session will outline the current status of these issues and discuss what health centers can and should do to protect and strengthen their 340B pharmacy program and the value it brings to their patients and the communities served.

Meet Our Presenter: Sue Veer!

Sue Veer has served as the President and CEO for Carolina Health Centers, Inc. (CHC) since 2006. CHC serves as the medical home for over 28,000 patients with 12 primary care practices and two community pharmacies located throughout a seven-county area of South Carolina known as the Lakelands. In addition to her senior leadership of the health center, Sue has developed and conducted organizational development and training programs for health care organizations for over 25 years and currently serves as the principal consultant for consulting services offered by CHC. A primary area of expertise is strategic planning and leadership development, and Sue has facilitated related organizational development projects for numerous health centers and PCAs during the nearly 20 years she has been part of the health center community.

Sue has also developed significant expertise related to health center 340B pharmacy programs. Over the last 3 years, she has presented 340B training programs for community health centers coordinated by the Primary Care Organizations in 22 states, participated as a lead contributor to the development of the NACHC 340B Compliance Manual, and provided consulting services to individual health centers. Sue has testified on behalf of community health centers at 340B hearings convened by both Senate and House committees.

Sue is an active member of the National Association for Community Health Centers, with long standing participation on the Legislative, Health Policy, and Rural Health committees and as Chair of the 340B Work Group. In 2019 Sue was elected to the NACHC Board of Directors and has been appointed by the Chair to serve on a recently convened Task Force on Racial Justice.

Sue holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and Communication from Carlow College in Pittsburgh, PA, pursued a Masters in Adult Education (M.Ed.) at Pennsylvania State University, and earned her MBA from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC. Prior to joining Carolina Health Centers, Ms. Veer served as Associate Executive Director of the South Carolina Primary Health Care Association where she gained extensive knowledge in health policy and health center management. Her professional background includes management positions in the private practice and community hospital environment, as well as at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
